I have been busy!

Well, hello again. I know it has been awhile since my last blog. I have been busy with finals for school and christmas stuff. Now that it is all over I can relax a little and sit down to plan some more. I am very excited because my cousin is going to help with all the flowers for the wedding. All I have to do is buy the flowers, leaves, and whatever else I want, and then she will help put it all together. That is such a blessing for me. I can concentrate on everything else now. My fiance and me will be sitting down this week and next getting the guest list together. My side of the list is almost complete, but his is not. Once that is finished then it is time for the invites to be printed. I cannot wait; I think it is going to be so much fun doing all this work.

After the list is finalized, I need to sit down with the florist (my cousin) and discuss how many arrangements will be needed for the reception. I want to make sure that the majority of the tables have arrangements in the center of them. We also came up with flower petals spread randomly throughout the middle of the tables for a nice accent. Any other suggestions would be nice. So for now, I am just finalizing details and getting what I can get done right now.

Well, I was hoping I would be done planning by now. I am not done though. I still have much to do and time is ticking away. At this point in the checklist that I told about earlier in other posts, a wedding registry needs to be done. I have come up with a list to help me decide what I want to put on the registry, but we just need to decide what store we will register at. I think Bed, Bath, and Beyond would be a good place because I know that it is every state that our families live in. That way they do not have to go far to find gifts for us. The good thing about going to this place to register is the fact that you can look up the registry online and also shop online for the gifts. I like the aspect and I think it would help with those family members who do not live around this area.

Also another place I was thinking of, even though it is kind of cheesy, is Meijer. I am just not sure that I want to go there to register. I will have to sit down and talk it over with my fiance to see what he thinks. I hope we can start looking at items soon to get some better ideas of what we want to put on the registry. I guess in time will see what happens. A helpful hint from wedding channel gave me all the information I needed. Check out what they suggest to help you in your planning. Also make your own list and try to follow it. I did and I know we are going to do that.

I guess for now I am just waiting to hear back from people to know what to do next. We have talked to some photographers about their pictures, but some of the prices were a little steep and some fairly cheap. Now, we are just waiting to see what happens with one more photographer we will meet with next week. After that we will make the decision I guess. It is so hard to choose. I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. One is a friend of mine and one is a friend of my fiance’s. Neither one of us want them to get mad at us if we decide to not go with one of them. I am sure everything will work out in the end.

Other then waiting on the photographer, everything is going according to plan. I have some free time to print the invitations and get the envelopes ready. I will not send those for a coupld more months. I know have to start to getting together with some of the bridesmaids to see when a bridal shower will be done. There is many things to do for that. I know it will not probably be until late April or May, so there is plenty of time to plan that event.

I have picked out different flowers to use the centerpieces for the reception. I am so excited about making the arrangements for the dinner. I have blue roses dipped in gold, white baby’s breath, white roses with leaves attached (will be stained later to be off-white), and I am still looking for more. I need more ideas of what kinds of flowers to do. When school is finally out, I am sure that I will start making the arrangements and getting more flowers. For now, I will just keep looking at flowers on-line to get some ideas. I usually just google search flower arrangements to get ideas. I hope everything turns out to be just fine. I am sure that it will.

A break for me?

Well for now I am going to a break from planning. This is only to let myself come up with more ideas. I know that I will get more ideas if I just take a break and refresh myself. I have made many decisions so far. I just need to make sure that everything is going the way I want it to. I need to make the save-the-date cards to send out as soon as possible. That in itself just takes time. Once those are done and sent out I will be able to make the actual invitations for the wedding. I have decided to make those myself as well. I have already started, I just need to print them. It takes a while to print them and I need to make sure that I have enough ink for printer to do that.

Once the invitations are made, then I can put the ribbon at the top of it. The ribbon is going to be either hunter green or navy blue. When finished with the invitations, I will be able to start writing the addresses on them. I have a list complied a few months ago. I just need to take the time and actually do it. It is hard with school, but I think that I can do it. Here is a sample of the actual invitation I came up with: wedding-invitation-message2.doc, just check it for yourself. I went to many websites to help write this. One site I went to was Wedding Channel. I also went to a couple of other sites like: proper wedding wording, invitation etiquette, and also at wedding needs. All of these sites helped me come up with our invitation wording.

What to do?

Well, I am kind of stuck now. I finally got the estimate back from the florist at Martins and they were definitely higher then what I expected. So, now I do not know what to do. I was told by friends that they were so cheap and they do a good job. When I got the estimate back, it was about two to three hundred dollars more then I thought. I guess I am going to have to go back to the beginning and look again. I am still making the arrangements for the reception, but I really want real flowers for the the bridesmaids and me.

I finally got a hold of my cousin and it looks like she is going to be able to help me out with all the flowers. This might actually save me a lot of money. I have many ideas and I hope that we can get them done. I hope that we can get them done before spring next year. So, I guess for now the big thing I have to worry about is the photographer. I am still looking for that. There are very little photographers around here it seems. The ones that I have looked at are already booked for next summer.

I started printing my save the date reminders the other day and I am so excited about it. I am going to be sending those to everyone hopefully this next week. Also, I sent a save the date email reminder last week to family members to let them know about what is going on so far. Here is a sample of both of those reminders: emailed version and printed version. I will start to print the actual invitations probably in a month or two. I am so excited about that.
